Significance of Army Chief Visit
The Srinagar trip of General Upendra Dwivedi also has its own importance. He is likely to interact with senior Army commanders and nodal security officials who will brief him of the round-up scenario. First and foremost, he will look at the recent ceasefire violations by Pakistan and what they mean for stability in general north now.
Broader Regional Impact
The LoC firing is not an incident anywhere close to this. Show of the India Pakistan ceasefire crumbling. The timing of the incident that took place just before a high-level visit and days after the worst terror assault out rightly points towards efforts to sow seeds of disharmony. It may also weigh on any future dialogue that the two states might have.
India’s Diplomatic Perception
Apart from the military readiness, India has been pursuing diplomatic courses to deal with the situation on hand. The Ministry of External Affairs has deeply deplored foreign firing across the border and lodged a strong protest to Pakistan, making apparent India readiness not escalate the peace but always ready even if provoked.
