MUMBAI: The Indian Stock Markets equity benchmark indices opened strongly on Friday, May 2, 2025, following a market holiday on Wednesday amid the appetite for profit booking on account of weak global cues. The upbeat sentiment was mainly led by strong overseas receipts; sustained inflows of foreign funds and encouraging economic activity data from the home front.

The Sensex and the Nifty 50 – the benchmark Indian indices- hit strong upward openings in the opening trade. At the open, Nifty 50 crossed the 24,400 level and managed to sustain on the higher side ending with a fresh high of consolidation inside the 24,550-support line. BSE Sensex 45000 surges in early trade, rallies late at over levels, and posts top single-day rise if extends the gains beyond over 660bps to close just shy of benchmark India index level curve shown below as RIGHT legged bullish-move.
Rally Key Drivers
In general, several factors contributed to today’s bullish sentiment. With the good global market momentum, Asian markets were also batting, and US index futures were rising. Around the world, positive news on possible US-China trade talks and strong earnings reports from among the big technology behemoths had ample to make investors feel confident. On the back of consistent buying by Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) in 11 straight sessions, the appetite for rupee-denominated assets remains unmatched boosting the flow of money into the market. Besides, GST Collection increased to such a high record ₹2.37L crore in Apr year-on-year up by l2.6 per cent after which it turned out that the economy has some legs.

Sector-Specific Movements
But stocks are also reacting to the fourth-quarter corporate earnings season which just entered its final stretch. Some of the companies that recently reported have followed with significant price movements. Auto stocks are also watched as companies release April sales data. Stocks of Adani Ports and Adani Enterprises gained later in the day as the earnings were out. Yet others the stocks are getting the heat from their Q quarterly numbers. The segment will see more stock-specific moves and volatility as more Q4 results come out as the global factors shift for market experts.
