On Friday, the Chandigarh government warned residents to stay indoors by sounding air raid sirens. The Air Force station has issued an air warning of a potential attack, according to an official statement. There are sirens blaring. It is recommended that everyone stay inside and away from balconies.
Punjab and Haryana share Chandigarh as their capital.
This warning comes after recent strikes and counterattacks between India and Pakistan have escalated tensions between the two countries.
A warning was also issued by the government of neighboring Punjab’s Mohali. It was requested that residents of the Chandigarh-area neighborhoods stay inside and away from windows and glass panes.

In certain parts of Chandigarh, there is an alert. Mohali officials sent out a warning saying, “We are advising Mohali residents in the bordering sectors to remain indoors and away from windows.”
Within the last two days, Chandigarh has heard sirens twice. India thwarted more attempts by Pakistan on Thursday evening to use drones and missiles to attack military installations. Areas like Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur were the targets of these strikes.
At least 15 cities, including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bathinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj, were targeted by Pakistan, according to the Defense Ministry.
Pakistan’s strikes followed India’s Operation Sindoor, in which the Indian military used precision missiles to bomb nine terrorist targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, just one day earlier. The attacks were a reaction to the terrorist attack that killed 26 civilians in Pahalgam on April 22.
Furthermore, citing the necessity to maintain maximum awareness, the Delhi administration on Thursday cancelled all staff leave “till further orders” due to concerns of a further escalation between India and Pakistan. According to a statement released by the Services Department, “no leave will be granted to any official of the Delhi government until further orders given the prevailing situation and preparedness for any emergency.”
