Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give his first speech to the country at 8 p.m., following the announcement of a truce following four days of fighting from Pakistan after Operation Sindoor.
In the early days following India’s May 7 launch of Operation Sindoor, which targeted nine terror targets, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri briefed the media. The Indian military assumed responsibility on Sunday and gave a media briefing on Monday afternoon. PM Modi will now take over tonight.
The speech was given two days after India and Pakistan agreed to immediately halt all military operations and firings on land, in the air, and at sea. After four days of cross-border strikes that raised concerns about a larger war, an agreement was struck.

According to Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, director general of military operations (DGMO), New Delhi met its goals and 35–40 Pakistani soldiers were killed in the battle.
This evening marks Ghai’s second meeting with his Pakistani counterpart since Saturday.
In order to exact revenge for the deaths of 26 persons in the Pahalgam terror incident, the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor on the intervening night of May 6 and 7. Over 100 terrorists were killed as the military struck nine terror locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
On May 8, 9, and 10, Pakistan then made an attempt to strike a number of Indian military installations.

Several Pakistani military outposts, notably Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, and Chunian, were the target of a vigorous counterattack by the Indian military.
Precision munitions were also used to target radar sites at Pasrur and Sialkot aviation base, resulting in significant damage.
India has said that it will respond appropriately to any future acts of terror committed by Pakistan, which it considers to be acts of war.
