New Delhi, India — Authorities in Delhi have nabbed four persons suspected to be illegal immigrants from Bangladesh. These were recently reported arrests that were part of the preexisting efforts of law enforcement to track down and ban land settlers in the country who are not documented.
The rest of the individuals were arrested from four different places in the city. Police sources did not give names of those arrested, but said the arrests related to a lack of proper passports or visas in India meant that the persons were illegal immigrants.

Crackdown on Illegal Immigration

With their forces on heightened alert and conducting a number of operations in the city to halt subsequent incursions as well as encampment of illegal trans-border ingressers (mainly desperate for economic reasons); following the final forms are completed, the deportation legal process will be kick started in near future for the two Bangladeshi migrant workers.
Police have on the other hand, are keeping in check and conducting activities to verify these persons who were probable suspects. The latest crackdown illustrates the thorny issues of porous borders and migration networks permitting illegal entries. Illegal immigrants are generally supposed to procure fake Indian identity papers once they reach the country in order to hide themselves from the authorities and seek work, making their identification an involved process. Illegal migration from Bangladesh to India on the Bangladesh-India border is very intricate and more socio-political in nature, with economic hurdles stacked against it. The authorities are trying to dismantle the facilitating networks and strengthen border enforcement measures against future illegal crossings, along with their concomitant problems.
