Abu Dhabi, May 21, 2025: With the UAE’s ambitious target of 39 million visitors in a year by 2030, the hospitality sector in the nation is strategically investing in new-age technologies such as robots and virtual reality (VR) for state-of-the-art guest experiences and efficient day-to-day operations. Such integration of technology is also considered important to produce a competent workforce for what is considered a big tourism spurt.

There are robot-staffed hotels elsewhere, but what seems to work best in the UAE is likely to be a mixture of humans with robotic assistance, as UAE hotels soft-launch a mixture. As the tourism strategy in UAE recognizes the deployment of 178,000 new jobs through development worth $ 187 billion, Dr. Edmund Goh — Assistant Dean, Research and Innovation, Abu Dhabi Hospitality Academy Lereseips emphasized that students need to be moulded organically through integrative learning practices to meet standard premium service levels without sacrificing operational efficiency.

These are anticipated to enable robots to process check-in queues, concierge, and gift-wrapping next delivery for housekeeping staff, allowing human staff to focus on higher-order guest interactions as well as management-type roles. At ADHA LR — a robotics firm which is set to implement the first robot system in 3-6 months, starting from concierge and housekeeping bots, and we are even considering fully automated parking.

In addition to robotics, VR is being considered both for guest experience and hospitality education. ADHA LR is building out advanced VR simulations to PRE-APPLY students for real challenges of business (boardroom negotiations), destination marketing & guest conferences. That is a method to improve requisite soft skills and leadership qualities within the simulation. Also, future tourists are supposed to see destination and hotel properties in an immersive way, thanks to VR apps, which will influence their decisions.

The intention of integrating robotics and VR is not to eliminate the human but rather to complement it. With automation of routine processes and delivery of immersive training solutions, they wanted to ensure that the UAE hospitality industry is able to build a future-ready workforce capable of driving superior service standards to the soaring number of international visitors, so as they further consolidate their status as one of the top global tourism destinations.
