A big shake-up has hit the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as it announced new roles for its leaders during a PAC meeting led by party chief Arvind Kejriwal on March 20, 2025. Saurabh Bharadwaj has been named the new Delhi convenor, replacing Gopal Rai, while Manish Sisodia takes on the role of Punjab incharge, with Satyendar Jain as his co-incharge. The changes come after AAP’s loss in the Delhi elections, aiming to rebuild the party’s strength in key states like Delhi, Punjab, and Gujarat.
New Roles for Key Leaders
The PAC meeting, held at Arvind Kejriwal’s home, saw senior leaders like Manish Sisodia, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Atishi, and Raghav Chadha in attendance, with Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann joining via video call. The party decided to reshuffle its leadership to focus on strengthening its base after the Delhi setback. Saurabh Bharadwaj, now the Delhi convenor, will work to rebuild AAP’s presence in the capital, while Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain will lead efforts in Punjab.
Why the Big Changes?
The reshuffle follows AAP’s defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections last month, where the party won only 22 seats compared to the BJP’s 48. Heavyweights like Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Saurabh Bharadwaj lost their seats, though Atishi managed to hold onto hers. The party is now shifting its focus to states like Punjab, where it’s in power, and Gujarat, where it won five seats in 2022. Manish Sisodia’s return to Punjab leadership—he previously held the role—shows AAP’s trust in his ability to keep the state strong despite his legal battles.

What’s Next for AAP?
The PAC meeting also set responsibilities for other states like Goa and Chhattisgarh, with leaders like Sandeep Pathak taking charge of Chhattisgarh. AAP hopes these changes will help it bounce back after the Delhi loss. Saurabh Bharadwaj called the party’s supporters “24-carat gold,” vowing to rebuild AAP in Delhi. Meanwhile, Manish Sisodia promised to make Punjab a “transforming state” under AAP’s rule. With these new roles, the party is gearing up for upcoming challenges, including by-polls and expanding its footprint beyond Delhi.
