Chennai: On 28 April 2025 in a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the capital city of the state of Tamil Nadu; tomorrow’s Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar receives his third-highest civilian honor Padma Bhushan today (April 28, 2025).
Though the laureate recognizes his immense contribution to art and cinema over three decades while reacting to it, the actor’s response of the moment hit many hard, because it is completely understated.
A Humble Perspective
Commenting on the laudable award he got from President Droupadi Murmu, Ajith Kamaran said, “It is surreal & overwhelming & this feeling yet to subside in my case”. Even though most people would not believe he is a star AND weaver for life, the actor shrugged and confessed, “Honestly, it all kind of still has not set in yet. Part of me is still at heart a cubist bottom-class citizen and to be honest, all these emotions feel very surreal. Happy and so overwhelmed!! He sees these instances as motivating and a validation of the effort that he just must keep on the job.

On Recognition and Appreciation
Ajith saw the Padma Bhushan awarded not just to him as an individual but also a mark that stands for the backing he has gotten these 33 stinky years. He was very thankful to the President, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government, and their following (along with everything under his administration) his family, and people who treat him address his name as a name only in his presence and that only because they are waiting patiently for all that acting fame & fortune Allens made. He shared a bit of his take on stardom also saying he would rather be called by his first name — Andy, Ak, or simply his name; acting is his job, and stardom as well as cash are by-products of it. Guests at the event included Ajith’s wife Shalini, and all four of Ajith’s children who shared in the joy while specifically mentioning how much his wife Shalini had done for him through his many sacrifices. He went on to say what his new focus will be, keeping life simple and hobbies to follow.
