The men were convicted of gang rape and repeated rape by Sessions Court Judge R Nandhini Devi. According to sources, at least three Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were slain Tuesday in Shopian’s Zinpather Keller neighborhood following a confrontation with security personnel. After drinking spurious liquor in different villages of Amritsar Majitha block late on Monday evening, at least 14 people died and some others were hospitalized. The villagers who were affected were treated at the Amritsar Civil Hospital, most of them belonging to the villages of Bhangali, Tangra, Sangha, and Marari Kalan, and currently six of them are undergoing treatment. The National Centre for Seismology has confirmed that at 2:41 am (IST) on Sunday, a 5.7 value earthquake on the Richter Scale hit Tibet. There were tremors reported nationally, but until now, no preliminary reports of casualty or destruction have been made. The authorities are keeping the matter in focus.
