Bihar wept 25 lives as it suffered from lightning deaths, sunny Delhi residents enjoyed a sudden downpour and right storm to lower the freakish heatwave they have been enduring. The erratic nature of extreme weather this monsoon season comes to the fore in the aftermath of very very severe events.
It is the extreme weather that shows just how unpredictable (and often dangerous) this monsoon season can be
Calm in Bihar was rocked by freak thunderstorms and hailstones killed farmers and other agricultural workers on the spot, as they were caught in open area prone to lightning. State government acted fast and took remedial measures for the affected families by sending out emergency warnings.
A Bihar government a statement said, “We at the Bihar government are very sad about this unfortunate loss of life to these lightning strikes. We shall compensate those families who has lost a life immediately and requesting all citizens to take shelter at their homes during thunderstorms.” Safety is number one
According to IMD, there was a severe confluence of atmospheric instability and winds laden with moisture which catalyse the lightning activity in that area. Thunderstorm and heavy rainfall in the region is an impending threat just as they have already cautioned the residents to stay intuitive.
Elsewhere in Delhi, a heatwave that had been holding the city hostage for days was abruptly ruptured with a blinding thunderstorm. The heavy downpour saw temperatures plummet to near average levels for the season, easing heat-compacted nerves. Torrential downpour with gale force winds and heavy rainfall rendered local traffic, power supply and all other activities slow, but relief was the message.
A Delhi transient tweeted, “Long awaited the heat is too much to bare for days it’s been cleanse by the rain. “It’s Long Overdue Break”
The IMD has predicted that more rain and thunderstorms for the capital and its periphery in the days ahead, presenting a risk of waterlogging for locals to be careful. The varied weather events provide a clear insight of how the monsoon season can be different all across India to stress on the need of keeping abreast and getting ready for any weather change. Culprits being actively managed by the authorities to contain immediate effects on affected areas, and guarding people safety.
