Mohanlal-starrer “L2 Empuraan” directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran has disappointed at the box-office following its seventh day showing as the Malayalam film has now released censored version. This has already led to discussion in film critic circles the keen fans of this movie are watching.
A sequel to the top hit Lucifer, L2Empuraan launched insane with the audience expectations at all time high. Nevertheless, the impending release of a censored version (sort of supposed due to the Gujarat riots references) has dropped the box office performance quite a bit.
The initial release of the movie was well-received with Mohanlal giving a thunderclap performance and Prithviraj Sukumaran direction was lauds too. Impact and action sequences were what helped the film do well at the box office.
However, reportedly when the film had some gagc should be updated in movie presentation fatay gaal that affected its overall charisma as well. A lot of viewers have told me they are disillusioned with the edits, how it changed the impact and the core of the story.
Film opening day 7 box office collections shows plummet, compared to its weekend. The decrease has put worrisome thoughts in my mind regarding the resupply of box office revenues over time and consequent long- term survival of a film that was hyped so high.

The ongoing controversy regarding the deleted version has also brought up debates over censorship and artistic freedom. It cuts might have been for good reasons to prevent planned social unrest, or they are a tyranny on artistic expression.
The band “L2 Empuraan” is still without official comment on the cut film and how it would help or hinder its economics. Meanwhile, people close to the production say they are keeping a close eye.
How the film does in the coming days will determine how big or small the final total of its box office success will be. A Prithviraj Sukumaran directed film “L2 Empuraan”, yes it has still shown amazing figures but censored version hampered it. International markets and streaming will also be a large factor for the movie’s bottom line. This issue arises in Malayalam release due to some scenes from the Gujarat Riots.
