    Can you believe that one can experience Scotland holidays in India? Let’s explore one of the best holiday destinations for this monsoon season. Kodagu is generally known as Coorg.

    Coorg is a hill station situated in the state of Karnataka , this place is famous for its spectacular steep hills, lush green forests, beautiful landscape , aromatic spices and coffee plantation. Situated on the Western Ghat this place is also called the Scotland of India as it offers scenic beauty with serenity and calmness with beautiful flora and fauna.

    This place contributes to almost 30% of total coffee plantation in India and it is one of the largest producers of honey in Asia. This place is renowned for its spice products, especially the paper and cardamom.

    This beautiful place has a unique cultural history as the people of coorg known as kodawas which was the warrior race . Kodawas was a community that used to worship weapons and have a unique style of dressing , cuisine and wedding.

    As the monsoon season arises this area turns into a green Paradise, rain makes place even more spectacular by giving life to waterfalls, coffee plantations of forest and the hold green landscape. 

    This is one of the best holiday destinations for this monsoon as it offers a pleasant environment as the temperature is around 20°C to 26°C. Celsius and generally heavy rainfall takes place here around 2500 to 3500 mm.

    Let explore some of the major tourist spot of Coorg which you can visit in Coorg, following are some of those spots:-

    Tadiandamol: 

     One can track here at Tadiandamol which is the highest peak of Coorg and the second highest peak of karnataka. With a height of 1748m , it is blessed with beautiful green slopes. It is  also famous for the Padi Igguthappa Temple. This temple is of deity Igguthappa, who is the main deity worshiped by the Kodavas.The deity is worshiped as the ‘giver of grain’ , they believe that due to the mercy and grace of deity Igguthappa, they are able to harvest a good crop.

    Nishani Betta Trek : 

    Nishani is a spectacular mountain peak which is situated near Talakaveri. The trek to this peak offers adventure with its beautiful landscape.Nishani provides a rare 360 degree view of the Brahmagiri hill range. 

    Climbing up the Brahmagiri hills one can visit the Talakaveri temple, and can get a panoramic view of the beautiful evergreen forest . Early in the morning especially in monsoon , relaxing , spectacular pleasant mountain view can grab your eyes .

    Dubare (rafting):

    If you are looking for adventurous activities like rafting, you can enjoy it at Dubare. Here you can enjoy rafting while tackling rapids in a forest surrounded by a beautiful area. Dubara is a river of core which offers great opportunities for water sports lovers. This activity is family friendly and something which can be enjoyed by everyone from children to elderly people.

    Dubare Elephant camp:

    Dubare also offers a unique place called the Dubare elephant camp. If you are an elephant lover then you must visit this place because here you can interact with elephants, you can watch them from a very close distance and even touch them, feed them and give them a bath. Here you can enjoy jungle safari as well. 

    Dobara elephant come is situated between the Kaveri and reserve forest. It was once the training camp of elephants and now it has become a beautiful spot for wildlife enthusiasts as well as travelers.

    Nagarahole :

    Nagarahole earlier known as the Rajiv Gandhi National Park was named after Nagrahole which means ‘serpent river’ in Kannada language. Is it spread over Mysore and Kodagu and covers an area of  almost 850 square kilometres. It is a major hub of tiger conservation under the project tiger. This protected area supports a large ecosystem of carnivores and herbivores. Here a large variety of animal species are found like tiger, leopard, Asiatic elephants, reptiles, deer, bears, different types of birds and other small animals.

    You can experience jungal Safari here with a jeep or a boat ,and can have a closer look at these beautiful species.

    Abbi waterfalls:

    It is another tourist spot of Coorg. Abbi waterfalls is situated near spice and coffee estate . Here the river Kaveri drops from the height of over 74 creating a spectacular waterfall. Here you can experience the rushing water of this waterfall.

    Other waterfalls like Iruppu waterfall and Chelavara waterfalls are also very popular waterfalls situated on the river Kaveri for their impressive view.

    Bhagamandala: 

    Bhagamandala is situated at the lower hills of talacauvery , it is a secret place because here three sacred rivers called cauvery, kannike and sujyoti meet together and this is the only reason that attracts thousands of devotees to this place. Bhagamandala is a group of three temples. If you are a spiritual person, you must visit this place for peace and calmness.

    Coffee estates:

    Coorg is heaven for people who love adventure and nature. Coffee lovers can visit the coffee states of Coorg , where you can see how coffee plantations are done, and you can also enjoy a cup of freshly brewed coffee . The smell of wet soil and fresh coffee beans in the season of monsoon becomes super tempting.

    There are many other tourist spots like Maidikri fort, Raja’s tomb,Nalkundadu palace etc which you can visit on your Coorg trip.

     In the monsoon season due to increased greenery in the area the wildlife also flourishes  in the wildlife century of Coorg.

    If you are planning to visit Coorg you should visit from June to September because this is a time when rain adds to the beauty of this place and makes it a perfect destination for holidays. Coorg is a heaven for nature lovers and for the people looking for peace and nature’s beauty.
