Indian Stock market Open Great on Positive Earnings Nifty Crossed 24K Topping in Indian equity markets opened strongly today, April 21, 2025 on robust gains by both, the Nifty 50 and the broader BSE Sensex in early trade. Nifty 50 surpassed 24,000-touch by hitting intraday high of 24,004.20, but grokkled back just above 23,950 points. Sensex inched up 895 pts to open at 78,926 (base on last close). This extremely positive start is largely thanks to the exceptionally buoyant buying activity in key, heavy-wight banking stocks that is flush with positive earnings news from the recent, quarter.
Rally for the banking sector regained momentum
Nifty Bank touched a record high, opening on strength of +560 points at around the 54,855 level. Supported by strong Q4 results from major players like HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank too. HDFC Bank net profit up 6.7%, ICICI Bank up 18%. This to some extent kept another leg of the bulls that led, gave returns in capital gains for both the banks stock as well affecting overall market sentiment Next up, Yes Bank rallied by around 5% following PAT growth of 63%.

Sector wise IT sector bounces back
IT sector had a hit and miss performance. Info was down 12%y/y but its shares rallied sharply in the first instance by around 3% Tech Mahindra and HCL were some of the best gainers in Nifty 50 on opening. On the top NSE nifty watchlist, Tata Elxsi also rallied almost 5% after its Q4 results release. NIFTY IT Index jumps more than 1% on opening.
