IndiGo Shifts Flights from Delhi’s Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 and 3 Starting April 15: What Passengers Need to Know

India’s leading airline, IndiGo, has announced a major shift in its flight operations from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA). Starting April 15, 2025, all IndiGo flights previously operating from Terminal 2 (T2) will now be handled from Terminal 1 (T1) and Terminal 3 (T3).

This change comes as a result of the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) shutting down T2 for maintenance and runway upgrades, which are expected to continue for the next 4 to 6 months.

    Why the Change?

According to DIAL, Terminal 2 will remain non-operational during this period to allow for critical maintenance work and infrastructure upgrades. As a result, airlines operating from T2, including IndiGo, have been instructed to relocate operations to other terminals.

IndiGo confirmed this move in a statement, saying:

“With implementation of this change, IndiGo will now operate from Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi.”

    How Will This Impact Passengers?

Passengers flying with IndiGo from Delhi will now need to check whether their flights are departing from T1 or T3, depending on their destination and schedule.

To ensure a smooth transition and minimize confusion, IndiGo has issued an advisory asking all travelers to:

    • Check their flight status and terminal information using their PNR on the IndiGo website or mobile app

    • Stay alert for updates via SMS, emails, or calls from the airline
    • Arrive early at the airport to avoid any last-minute hassle

    The airline added:

“We kindly request you to check the terminal details and your flight status on our website before heading to the airport, as there may be changes to flight schedules as well.”

Tools for a Smooth Travel Experience

To assist travelers during this transition, IndiGo offers several support tools:

    • ‘6E Skai’ chatbot on the website for real-time assistance
    • Customer care helpline for any travel-related queries
    • Real-time flight status and terminal updates on the mobile app

IndiGo has also emphasized its commitment to offering on-time, affordable, and hassle-free travel, despite the operational changes.

    When Will Terminal 2 Reopen?

As per DIAL’s infrastructure plan, the maintenance work at T2 is expected to be completed by the September quarter of the next financial year. Until then, all airlines, including IndiGo, will continue to operate from T1 and T3.

     IndiGo’s Expanding Network

While shifting operations in Delhi, IndiGo is also expanding its global network. Recently, the airline announced direct flights from Mumbai and Kannur to Fujairah—its fifth destination in the UAE.

This expansion, coupled with domestic operational adjustments, reflects IndiGo’s goal to maintain customer satisfaction and operational efficiency across all touchpoints.

Final Travel Checklist for IndiGo Passengers Flying from Delhi:

    •  Check your flight status on the IndiGo app or website
    • Confirm your terminal (T1 or T3)
    • Arrive early at the airport to allow extra time
    • Stay connected via email/SMS for last-minute updates
    • Use ‘6E Skai’ or IndiGo support for help

Stay tuned to get more updates!
