BCCI Intimates Year Contracts for 2024-25:
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has announced annual player contracts for the 2024-25 season, and instead of eyebrows its long retention of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja among the top A+ category has been raised. The decision comes even as India’s three senior players had informed for the end of their T20 International career after India topped T20 World Cup 2024.
Contracts Valid for All-Format Legends in A+ Contract:
The A+ level (retainership of ₹7 cr per year) is normally for the Bravehearts who are implicitly picked in all the format of the game. The reason for these three’s continued relevance in the top bracket is likely that Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja are apparently still very important to both Test and One Day International (ODI) teams, even if they do not play for T20I at the moment. Their value in these longer formats transcends even years, having played for the auricular line-up consistently as always. —

Justification Justifies Retention:
Contract : Contract assessment period 1st October 2023 to 30th September 2024 informs the top of a BCCI official. Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jadeja were all integral members of the T20I playing eleven including their Big Bash weather that final against South Africa in group A. So, based on their all-format performances during 2021 it can be justified that they are a part of the A+ category in the current contract cycle. That call is an acknowledgment by the BCCI of how enduring their historic value to Indian Cricket transcends even one format.

Emphasis on Test and ODIs only:
Additionally, BCCI sources have stated that the A+ contract takes into account a cricketers all round value with regard to seniority for example, in the unenviable formats of Test and ODI. Moreover Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja still command respect as key players & leaders of these formats and their entitlement to top contract status. Crucial for critical ICC tournaments and bilateral series in longer forms, their experience and on field winning instincts are undeniably needed for India.
