Today, IBM and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), two prominent technology companies, launched a collaboration to advance India’s quantum sector. The government of Andhra Pradesh is now building the first-of-its-kind Quantum Valley Tech Park in the state capital, Amaravati, which includes both technology companies.
TCS and IBM
With a 156-qubit Heron quantum processor—the biggest quantum computer in India—an IBM Quantum System Two installation will serve as the focal point of the tech park. IBM and TCS are collaborating to enable the creation of algorithms and apps that will assist Indian industry and academia in resolving some of the most difficult problems facing the country. In a news release, the Andhra Pradesh government, IBM, and TCS stated their intention to expedite the growth of India’s quantum ecosystem.
According to N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, the objective of India’s National Quantum Mission is to establish the country as a global hub in the quantum sector. Andhra Pradesh is the first state globally to recognize the potential of a dedicated Quantum Valley as a foundational element for its economic future, positioning itself at the forefront of the global quantum transformation. Over the next 25 years, quantum computing is anticipated to transform every major industry, and the state aims to lead in the adoption of this emerging technology.
According to Naidu, the Quantum Valley Technology Park, which is home to IBM, TCS, L&T, and other partners, is an example of how India’s business and academic sectors will soon be able to make significant progress toward realizing the objectives of our mission.

We are excited about our forthcoming deployment of the latest IBM Quantum System Two at the Quantum Valley Tech Park, in partnership with the state of Andhra Pradesh, said Jay Gambetta, Vice President of IBM Quantum. With our collaboration with TCS, we will be able to attract the dynamic community of developers, scientists, and industry professionals across the nation to develop algorithms and applications. Coupled with India’s National Quantum Mission, this could expedite the next significant milestone, which involves successfully demonstrating quantum advantage.
Members of Quantum Valley Tech Park now have access to IBM’s cloud-based quantum computers by virtue of a partnership with TCS. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience an IBM Quantum System Two with the newest technology once the Quantum Valley Tech Park is finished.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh hopes to generate high-end jobs, top talent, and foreign investments by developing a thriving quantum ecosystem which includes research, access to quantum computers, and industry applications.
By developing quantum application scenarios across fields such as medical sciences, materials science, supply chain resilience, energy optimization, cryptography, and sustainable manufacturing, TCS intends to foster applied research and innovation in India in line with this partnership. The objective is to enable applications that harness quantum capabilities to address real-world business problems that conventional computing cannot solve. Through its involvement in the Quantum Valley Tech Park, TCS will offer researchers, industry experts in India, and academic institutions the chance to access IBM’s quantum computers and resources.
