Following unjustified firing by Pakistani forces, the Border Security Force (BSF) claimed on Saturday that it had “completely destroyed” a terrorist launch pad in Pakistan’s Sialkot region, which is located across from the Akhnoor neighborhood of Jammu. BSF authorities say a pinpoint strike late Friday night destroyed the launchpad at Looni, which was allegedly used to bolster cross-border raids and infiltration.
Around 9 p.m. on Friday, Pakistani soldiers fired unprovokedly on BSF posts along the International Border in Jammu, prompting the reaction. According to a spokeswoman, “BSF responded in a commensurate manner, causing widespread damage to the Pakistan Rangers’ posts and assets.” “We are unwavering in our resolve to defend India’s sovereignty.”
The attack was a part of a larger escalation between India and Pakistan, in which Indian forces responded to prolonged provocations with retaliation on several fronts. According to the defense ministry, 26 sites in India, including Jammu, Baramulla, Pathankot, and even parts of Gujarat and Rajasthan, were the focus of Pakistani drone and artillery operations. High alert and blackout measures were implemented in a number of border districts after reports of armed drones were seen in Ferozpur and other sensitive areas.

“All of these aerial threats are being detected and neutralized by counter-drone technologies as part of the Indian Armed Forces’ high level of alert. Where appropriate, swift action is being taken, and the situation is being closely and continuously monitored,” the ministry stated.
While district authorities in Gujarat’s Kutch enforced blackouts and cautioned locals to stay indoors, a drone-triggered explosion in Punjab damaged a house in Jalandhar. In a statement, the Ministry of Defense urged residents in border regions to stay vigilant, saying, “The situation is under close and constant watch.”
A two-year-old girl, a senior government official from Jammu and Kashmir, and a woman from Poonch district were among the five individuals slain in the Jammu area. Following intense shelling and alleged drone assaults, dozens more people were hurt in Rajouri, Poonch, and Jammu. An artillery round hit Raj Kumar Thapa’s official residence in Rajouri, killing him along with other District Development Commissioners.
Since the horrific assault in Pahalgam on April 22, forces have been conducting retaliatory precision strikes. On May 7, missile attacks struck nine terrorist targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, including well-known Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba strongholds.
