Kolkata/New Delhi: TMC Member of Parliament Yusuf Pathan will reportedly be absent from the Indian government delegation in international outreach for “Operation Sindoor” as per sources from Trinamool Congress (TMC). TMC MPs sent a clear message to divert away from this initiative, which envisages briefing heads of important partner countries on the issue of India’s stand against cross-border terrorism post Pahalgam attack.

Indian PM said that he is planning to send all-party delegations of MPs and political leaders to various global cities. It seeks to build a single national platform on counter-terrorism, more specifically in the backdrop of Operation Sindoor — India’s military response after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025. Well, these delegations were all meant to help India make a single muscle statement on world politics about zero tolerance of terror.
But, Trinamool Congress will not be part of these delegations. Party sources say that because of nil foreign policy in its bid and the Union government should act upon and handle all such international happenings itself. Sources said that TMC leaders have also complained to the RPTCC Centre without its consultation, unilaterally inserting names of MPs from other parties. And the final word on who will participate, the reason is exclusive to the TMC.

A decision by an influential opposition party such as TMC to boycott a delegation that is composed in the name of national integration on security issues is necessarily political. The government mentioned MPs like Yusuf Pathan (a former cricketer from Rajasthan who was elected to the Lok Sabha) as some of the people who will be in an alternate delegation. The decision by TMC, the political body, will further lay bare the politics of the ruling dispensation versus the opposition on issues, both domestic, like national security, and foreign policy-related, among others. Although in support of the entire nation’s war on terror, TMC has distanced itself from this government-led structure of this kind of diplomatic outreach.
