Dehradun — The government of Uttarakhand led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken stern action against illegal/unregistered madrasas in the state. Over 170 such institutions have been sealed under a continued crackdown by authorities. The area’s largest operation was inspired by a recent directive from the state government to take the necessary steps towards educational compliance, as well as safety for social security and dearness in Uttarakhand.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed loud and clear that there is an urgent need to conduct a rogaine investigation against madrasas across the state. With this verification drive, the state government sought to unearth and take corrective actions against illegally operated and non-compliant madrasas that were not registered. The investigation is aimed to understand funds on which they are running, content being taught and infrastructure present at these centers.
There has been a hue and cry that where does the education (according to law) and life of young students registered with these unlicensed madrasas sit in India and how it may fall? Meanwhile, The Uttarakhand government has maintained its resolve to enforce all the laws and ensure every educational institution inside the state follows the legal framework lawfully providing quality education under safe Environment.
Multi-departmental (state Education department,police and local administration) ongoing sealing drive of all unauthorised madrassas in country. Then, officials need to manually verify that all the madrassas in their region are indeed registered and functioning. Government said that this move is not directed against any specific community but will only incorporate action for general implementation of law and education standards. The focus remains on offering equitable social security and education to every child in Uttarakhand no matter where they are getting educated.
Based on the ongoing sealing of these unauthorised madrasas, the govt. has also stated to work with genuine run institutions to facilitate them in complying registration and even make them upgrade their infrastructure,courseware. They want to incorporate these institutions into the regular education system while retaining their identity.
The response has been a two-edged sword with some praising the government effort to enforce regulations but others concerned for students studying in sealed madarsas. As per the state government of Uttarakhand, it will shortly notify a plan to avoid such a disruption in education and immediate provision for alternative schooling for the students.
